What better way to explain who I am then through the words of others...  Look below the video for some other things that my fellow coworkers have taken the time to write about me.

VP of New Builds (former Division Managing Director of North America) presents me with FIRST Excellence Award.

The following Recommendations were provided by those who worked for me, worked with me and worked as my supervisors to nominate me for acceptance into our company's Offshore Safety Development Program which was designed for employees who have been recognized as having the potential to be promoted 2 to 3 levels above their current position, as identified on the Succession Plan.  Only one person per division was active in the program at any given time and although I was accepted and slated to enter the program, it was disbanded before I could enter.  I would move from an offshore based Captain's position  to a onshore based role instead of joining this program

  • Captain Leshko was instrumental in assisting me with the pre-employment process at Transocean. He explained the company structure, their staffing needs, and how my talents might be best applied within the company. I found him to be responsive, clear, and exceptionally welcoming. He has monitored my training process since I started employment with the company and has answered all of my questions. He is a tremendous asset to Transocean's management team - Chief Engineer

  • Foremost in my eyes, Matt is a first class leader that takes care of his people. That was my experience with him fourteen years ago when I played rugby with him at the US Merchant Marine Academy where he provided veteran guidance to new comers like me in a stress-fully demanding environment. True to his character, that is my experience with him today as the Development and Staffing Supervisor of Maintenance at Transocean. Matt has once again provided masterful guidance, refined through his ascension to Captain, that has put me on a path towards success with Transocean.  Matt's career at Transocean is an inspiration. Having risen to the highly respectable position of Captain while taking on projects, one could argue, outside the normal scope of that position for the benefit of Transocean, Matt has earned himself a place as a leader on the HR team. In this role Matt is forward thinking with targeted goals for the manning and personnel developmental needs of Transocean, and he has a carefully crafted strategy to meet his goals.  I am humbled to be a colleague of Matt’s, and I strive to achieve his high level of professional excellence. - Master/Captain
  • Matthew was diligent with follow up and instrumental in helping me solve my crewing issues. He was clear and focused on the matter. He executed a proper placement that was well suited for my technical ability and career path.
  • Matt has a keen eye for detail and is performance oriented. He "is" the man to go to to get the job done. Most importantly, he does this with a thorough and complete style. He takes on tasks and sees them through to finish. This is a trait that is difficult to find in an employee or supervisor. But when it happens, it is best to keep a performer such as Matt on board.  - Offshore Installation Manager
  • Tenacity, passion and caring are all words that describe Captain Matthew Leshko very well. Captain Matthew Leshko is a top-notch marine professional who welcomes any challenge thrown in his direction. His high-energy style makes everyone around him want to elevate their work ethic to the same level.  Matt's passion and commitment is bar none. I was impressed with his confident demeanor and intelligent yet down to earth manner. I witnessed that Matt is a very well-loved and justifiably respected part of the Marine community because he put his heart and energy toward taking care of his fellow coworkers. He is one of those rare individuals who will always have a friend anywhere he goes as a result of the countless number of people he has touched. Matt is an "A Player" who will certainly achieve much in life.....a true professional in every sense.   Offshore Maintenance Employee
  • Matt is a team player and shines at asking on tasks for his team as well as for the good of the company. His leadership is exemplary. He expects this with the people he works with. This is why he will do well for Transocean in areas of development and staffing. This will lead to more guys like him working out in the field for us very soon. Rig Manager
  • Matt was the best supervisor I ever had on the Development Driller 2. He constantly took the time out in his busy schedule to make me a better Bosun. He put a lot of responsibility on me and I hope I served him well. I pray I get a boss like him again. I have the highest respect for him as a supervisor and a family man.  - Bosun
  • I have known Matthew for 11 years now and we share many mutual friends and colleagues. We have worked together in two companies; Military Sealift Command where we were Third Mates together and Transocean where he excelled through the ranks from Third Mate to Captain.   Our career paths parted for several years when he left MSC to seek out other opportunities. I reconnected with Matthew when we was Captain with Transocean expressing interest in joining the company in 2012. Going above and beyond, he used his charismatic interpersonal skills and unrelenting determination which played a key role in securing me a position marking start of my in the oilfield career with Transocean. Having served 10 years in the government sector, Matthew served as a mentor on how to manage my role in a newly founded career field.  I have applied these learned skills which eventually secured my current position as Captain with ENSCO plc. I have a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunities he afforded for me and am glad to call him a colleague and friend.  Matthew has since moved shore side after 12 years of professional seagoing and offshore experience to manage positive change and streamline the future of Transocean's Marine Department.  Matthew governs both his personal and professional lives by the same set of morals, values and characteristics that will propel him further into success in whatever goals his decides to achieve. Personally, I would not hesitate assist Matthew in his goals albeit personal or professional, if called upon to do so.  - Master/Captain
