Many of our rigs operated in the Gulf of Mexico where hurricanes can pose a very serious threat to offshore installations.  As our rigs are self propelled, they can get underway and evade the pending threat.  The T-Time Calculator was designed to identify the time it would take a tropical disturbance to reach the vessel as well as how long it would take the rig in it's current state to get to a position to be able to stop all work and transit 150 nautical miles.

A current calculator was later added to combat the high loop currents frequently seen in the Gulf of Mexico.  This allowed the rigs to identify the average current conditions and their expected speed to establish how long they would take to travel the required 150 nautical miles to the safe zone.
